Coast Guard continues mission in the Arctic

The all white float coat was a project taken up by the boating safety team to help whalers in the Arctic be less noticeable by whales during hunting while maximizing safety at the same time. Operation Arctic Crossroads is a multi-agency initiative consisting of U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Air Force, Army National Guard, Air National Guard and U.S. Public Health Services personnel who have deployed to Nome, Alaska and Barrow for 20 day initiative to provide medical, optometry, boating safety awareness and other community services to more than eight communities throughout Northern Alaska, and to determine operational effectiveness and overall capabilities of operational aircraft and boats.
